I am looking for a different solution. At work we have three browsers: IE, Chrome, Firefox. IE is set as default becasue many of the web tools we use only work properly in IE. However, the version of WebEx we use only works properly in Chrome.We are rolling out a web app that only runs in Chrome, but we don't want to change the default browser from IE. I have control of all the machines that this would be opened on so doing registry changes with GPO is not an issue.
Basically just make the target of the shortcut like below. Change the icon to something pretty and they will have no idea it's really an IE shortcut. Maybe send out a shortcut to everyone's desktop with chrome as the application and an argument of the address.
I don't think you can do it via a link in an email.

No I can't do a shortcut because this will be a URL specific to that email, like a link to the document its talking about etc. Davidr4 is right. The easiest way would be to put a Chrome shortcut on the desktop and in the shortcut's properties, append the url to the end of the target. I tried making a hyperlink in an outlook email with the above target and it didn't work, so the desktop shortcut may be the way to go. I'm so close but I dont know how to troubleshoot to parameter passing, like how I can see whats actually getting passed to chrome and why it doesn't like it.
